Mayra Carranza brings a perspective that few lawyers have. She has served as both an attorney in private practice and as in-house counsel, making decisions from the client’s side of the table. Before joining Nadler Nelson, Mayra spent more than five years as in-house counsel for a company with more than 5,000 employees worldwide, ultimately leading the global employment and litigation function handling employment and litigation matters and advising executive leadership, senior leaders, and HR professionals on the kinds of difficult decisions she now helps clients navigate. This experience continues to shape how she practices today: with clear, practical advice clients can act on.
Mayra represents clients in complex employment matters, including claims under Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FLSA, and FMLA as well as representing employers in proceedings before the EEOC. She counsels clients on a broad range of employment issues including workforce restructuring, executive employment agreements and exits, internal investigations, and employee terminations and discipline. She also has experience managing commercial litigation and high-stakes business disputes.
Mayra began her career in the litigation group of Keating Muething & Klekamp, a nationally recognized law firm in Cincinnati, Ohio, before returning home to Texas, where she practiced employment law at a boutique employment firm.
Mayra understands that clients rarely need a lawyer simply to identify risk; they need one who can distinguish the significant from the theoretical, understand the business implications of available options, and recommend a practical path forward. She brings that perspective to every engagement, whether helping a client avoid a dispute, navigate a difficult employment decision, or defend litigation when it arises.
